I am not being hyperbolic when I say (tech) capitalism is alienating (making strangers) of us at a staggering scale. Alienating us from ourselves, each other, touch, feeling, thoughts…from the intimacy and care of touch, bedtime stories, prayers, poems, drawings, community, love
what if we actually spent time with our children?
what if we built a society where we can spend more time with our children?
what if we claw back time from our employers to spend with our children?
instead of creating another vector of surveillance for our children?
A robot car will drive your kid to soccer practice. A disembodied voice will comfort your child at night. A glowing screen will teach your child; a matrix on a GPU will calculate their worth. They will learn morality from a conglomerate. And you will be free.
Seems the plan is for your kids to be nurtured & educated by “machines of loving grace” because it’s a money extraction game and they don’t care about the emotional, intellectual, psychological, familial and societal damage they do. In fact they’ll profit off the arbitrage of total social collapse.
Look this is great but there are still a few other times during the day when I have to interact with my child. When is Amazon going to get around to fixing those?
