Still time to register and attend our next #AaRC virtual conference! We have a super interesting lineup of talks focusing on animal paleogenomics! #aDNA
In this project, we carried out a huge number of population genetic simulations to evaluate the accuracy of some of the most popular methods for LAI and admixture dating in a range of scenarios covering various parameters of temporal sampling and composition of reference panels.
Our analyses revealed some very interesting patterns of when (and how) different methods behave in various circumstances, resulting in a set of guidelines and recommendation for future LAI work on ancient datasets.
Still time to register and submit an abstract to our next online AaRC conference! #aDNA
Are you interested in doing local ancestry inference (LAI) using imputed #aDNA? Take a look at our preprint, together with @bodkan.bsky.social:

As we get closer to ICP, here's a reminder that AaRC is hosting an in-person meet on the afternoon of the 22nd.
There will be interesting talks, discussions, and networking opportunities.
You can register / submit an abstract here: forms.gle/Kse1kPYnpsVg...
In a little bit more than 15 minutes the recording of our last #AaRCademy series, focused on relatedness using #aDNA with @jolijnerven.bsky.social, will be available on our YT channel. Check it out if you missed it! 🧪🧬🏺https://youtu.be/M0Kd9M08H5U

The oldest DNA retrieved from an animal fossil is ~1.6 million years old - a mammoth from icy Siberia where cold temperatures preserve DNA well. But have you ever wondered how long #ancientDNA is preserved in animal remains from sunny & warm Africa? Well, wonder now more! doi.org/10.1016/j.qu...
Yesterday in @nature.com, we presented the earliest evidence of dogs anywhere in the world — three puppies that were buried by Stone Age hunter-gatherers in Türkiye almost 16,000 years ago.
