Incredible. For non-Chicagoans Sigcho-Lopez is one of the more progressive, pro-immigrant legislative reps we have and this is coming days after a burning cross was publicly erected in Grant Park.
Alderman Byron Sigcho Lopez of the 25th Ward released a statement and footage of men detonating a bomb near his home in Pilsen last night.
"The aldermen — a group that runs City Council’s ideological gamut, but includes many progressives — told the company they are concerned over its ownership of Omni Air International, a subsidiary that carries out long-haul deportation flights for the federal government."

There was a time when small scale firebombings were frighteningly common occurrence in Chicago - often against public figures like politicians and judges, but also frequently against regular people who dared to try to desegregate residential neighborhoods. I would not like to return to that.

Love the moments after a storm where everything gets quiet and people start coming out of their houses to assess nature’s damage. People grab their brooms and cleaning tools and start collectively cleaning.
These national weather service alerts are so impactful because they’re so loud and foreboding but also so unnerving to read. “Imminent threat alert!” They immediately get to the point.
Saw someone call Chicago Chiami and doesn’t feel far from truth with this humidity and tropical like storms.
How I know the storm has passed (for now) is that all the porch cats are back on their perches.

Hey Chicago, brace for some heavy rain! Flood advisory in effect until 3AM CDT. Stay safe, avoid flooded areas and keep an eye on those creeks and streams. 🌧️🌊
