It doesn't get brought up whne people talk about the recent history of gay fiction. I remember, though! I remember the fight I had, and I'm proud of the book I wrote back then when I was thirty one. (9)

25 years exactly since i wrote this one! I'm still grappling with how the world and my own life has changed in that time. (10)
Nowadays there's queer representation everywhere, in fiction published for every age group. I'm glad of that. Amazed by that, really. I feel sad that S&S let the novel go out of print within about a year of it coming out and it's completely vanished from view since then. (8)
I learned a lot in the summer of 2002 and eventually got through to the other side not quite unscathed by the experience. But i believe then what i believe now - if you're going to write books then they have to be ABOUT something. They have to be worth doing. (7)
I went on tv and radio to talk about my book - defending it against all kinds of gatekeepers and sticking up for my right to write kids' books that were (as we might now describe them) inclusive. (4)
