The Grease Traps, SOLID GROUND (2021) 📍 Oakland, CA The name don't lie: This is some greasy, greasy garage 'n' soul. Another not-particularly-contemporary-sounding entry on my list, but whaddyagonnado? How can you deny grooves like this?

My daughter and her friend just listened to YOU SEEM PRETTY SAD FOR A GIRL SO IN LOVE from start to finish as soon as it dropped, comparing notes over FaceTime, discussing themes and favorite tracks … so I’d say the kids are alright and albums are gonna be fine.
