A fantastic evening at @lettretage.de where we discussed the legacy of W.G. Sebald, and the organisers kindly projected the image of a humongous Prussian war memorial for the story about Grudziądz and a depressed Queen Louise that I read.

Artan was named 2025 men’s referee of the year for the Confederation of African Football. FIFA picked him as one of its 52 referees for the World Cup. He was to be the first Somali to officiate at the tournament. It would surely have been the honour of his career.
