This post brought to you by my interest in LineageOS (open source Android) and a brief trip to Wikipedia where I learned it’s a fork of an earlier project (CyanogenMod) started by a then closeted but now recently out trans woman. Goes to show time comes for all open source project founders.
Making two batches of strawberry ice cream and strawberry sorbet with 4 pounds of fresh strawberries. Mmm… maceration.
My team has now been to Montreal, Vancouver, and Ottawa. So, Toronto seems obvious to me as we cross off the big five in Canada (though I’m not sure about Calgary, tbh).
I work in tech, and have a number of tech-related hobbies, and it's always delightful to see how basically any open source project you come across relies in part or in whole on the work of some random trans woman who decided to fix a problem.
Update: ready to go in the ice cream maker. I feel very justified in my pandemic purchase of an expensive Cuisinart ice cream maker with built-in compressor. Going to run four batches back to back tonight.
I could be wrong though—if anyone can identify it more closely, I will owe them a beverage.
Some people will say this REI ad was AI generated. I choose to believe that they have finally embraced the power of “reach around bars,” and acknowledged the bourgeois redundancy of having two pedals.
Hot take: “Not wanting kids,” “not enjoying kids,” and “hating kids” are all different things. If you find yourself “hating kids,” you should probably interrogate that a bit.
My team at work is planning an in-person meetup in early October (we all work remote). Help me convince them we should go to Toronto.
