Hosted by The Reckoning Project in partnership with Yale University, this one-day symposium will bring together leading practitioners, academics, and policymakers to examine how the erosion of international norms is reshaping modern conflicts and weakening the systems meant to protect civilians and enforce accountability. Through a series of expert panels and a keynote address, the event will explore the growing gap between atrocity and justice, the limits of existing legal mechanisms, and the role of evidence, documentation, and civil society in preserving the possibility of accountability. The symposium will include opening remarks by Janine di Giovanni, Yale Jackson School Senior Fellow and founder of The Reckoning Project; a keynote address by Kenneth Roth, former director of Human Rights Watch; and closing remarks by University of Toronto professor Timothy Snyder.
