Copy editors will always change the newerfangled use of "begs the question" to "inspires the question" or "forces us to ask" or some such, which is fine even though it ALWAYS, after the fact, shows the copy editor's thumbprint.

And I'm happy to throw "akimbo" onto the junk heap with "begs the question" and reserve my strength for protecting "nonplussed" and "bemused," which need all the help they can get.
