Director of Stand For All, freelance policy and comms specialist, posting predominately about immigration/asylum and trans/non-binary policy and rights, along with general rantings. (They/them). My views, no-one else would want them.

We need leaders who can spell out what's happening clearly and with force.
And then he'll post about it on a website rigged to help Nazis and post non-consensual pornography.

Absolutely done with the whole "what's the point of Pride" narrative from certain folks. LGBTQIA+ community, especially trans and non-binary individuals, are facing relentless attacks on rights. Pride is important. The tie btw is incidental as was wearing it anyway for a separate thing I was doing.
By the way, as with quite a substantial amount of BBC's reporting on many human rights' related issues, especially immigration and trans related, this isn't just a slip and misleading by the BBC. It is factually incorrect and designed to be hostile. Refugees are not "illegal" in any terms. #r4today

Anyone asking what the point of Pride is, is dead ignorant and privileged. They're also part of why Pride is important.

These aren't "protests" they are race riots. What we are seeing in Belfast and Glasgow, what we saw in Southampton et al, are not protests driven by any pretence of "legitimate concerns", they are race riots fuelled by the far right and political rhetoric.
And it is now changed at least, but does not excuse that, once again, the BBC started off from the premise of using factually incorrect and hostile "right wing" language to describe people who were facing serious abuse.

I seriously question the BBC editorial decision which came up with calling kidnap victims who are being tortured "illegal migrants", thereby framing them as to blame in the eyes of many readers. Also, this is not new. EU funded camps were known for same atrocities. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We utterly condemn the violence being seen in Belfast and Glasgow. These are not "protests" they are race riots. They are far right fuelled attacks against communities, leaving people in fear. Women and children trapped in their homes by hostile mobs who threaten violence against them.
