The Author's Guild picking a fight with libraries is going to turn me into the Joker.
You all-- I never thought I'd see the day, but library peeps, strap in for a fight. The Author's Guild is going after us as the reason why authors are making less money. I don't think they understand who they are dealing with: www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...
Don't fall for these scare tactics. The best route toward improving our income from writing books is hand in hand with the library.
Thank you @bookriot.bsky.social for naming TRULY DEVIOUS as one of the Best Books of the Century (So Far)!

This is me. I don’t buy many books and most I do buy are used. But on more than one occasion I’ve fallen in love with a book, or author I discovered at the library and opened my wallet.
Thrilled to share an excerpt from CARRY ME TO MY GRAVE with the fine folks at @reactorsff.bsky.social ! Check it out!

A survey commissioned by the Guild found that only 25% of print books and e-books read in the past month were bought new or through a paid subscription, with readers increasingly turning to low- or no...
Yeah because its librarians and not publishint companies that are in control of how much money authors make. For sure. Cowards just want an easy target instead of actually dealing with the problem
Also, authors (of which I am one), the Author's Guild does a lot of good generally, but they are WRONG here. They are trying to turn against us.
There are over 12,000 public libraries in America and they are one of the only places reliably spending money on books every single day of the year.
