Agreed + it takes jobs away from people who rely on that work, and have heard from plenty of taxi and ride share drivers that the social interaction part of their work really matters to them. May be a bit abstract, but there's a very real social cost to automation.

I do think it’s important to point out concerning data from Portland for All showing a massive slowdown in police response times vs. fire (182% vs 11%), despite staffing for both remaining stable since 2022.
