The right-wing attack on higher ed is determined to foster epistemic doubt in colleges and universities by deliberately ignoring all the actual problems with higher ed that have, ironically enough, resulted from their already-existing institutional dominance.

Too many of my friends and acquaintances have recently lost jobs teaching in higher ed; too many of us never had chances to build teaching careers in the first place. When academics say someone is "beginning to lose their trust" it opens the important question of just _whose_ trust matters now.
