Yeah I worked with a CA employment lawyer to make a 2 year rider, TL;DR the rider says that the studio is obligated to pay out 2 years of your salary if they don’t employ you for at least a year. And cover COBRA. qorquiq.itch.io/2-year-rider

I get that we love our jobs and our passions but we need to change our frame of mind. Obviously, don't be a dick, but also understand that jobs these days are transactions.
These people can lay you off whenever. You should be able to do the same.
