5:4 has recently published several items of interest to listeners of contemporary composition, electroacoustic music, and experimental sound. In World New Music Days 2026, Romania (Part 1), Simon Cummings begins his coverage of this year’s ISCM World New Music Days in Bucharest, held under the title “Columna Infinita” and framed, at least indirectly, by the spectre of Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși.

Source: Bandcamp Daily. Morton Feldman had an obstreperous personality, wore Coke-bottle glasses, smoked and drank—and was one of the most important composers of the 20th century. While he began in the company of the avant-garde, he ended up one of the greatest composers in the Western classical tradition. Feldman was close friends with John Cage—they met by chance at a concert in Carnegie Hall—and the other New York School composers, Earle Brown and Christian Wolff.
