Postdoc in De Veylder in VIB, Belgium. Interested in plant organ regeneration and wounding stress signals.
Duncan Coleman
It was great to see Rubén Tenorio Berrio's final PhD defence at PSB/UGent on scRNAseq in the Arabidopsis leaf. It was a privilege to also be a member of his jury. Congratulations Ruben! @psb-vib.bsky.social @deveylderlab.bsky.social
The diversity of mushrooms is fascinating!
How do plants respond to wounding? Well it it's not too dissimilar to how they respond to heat. We found that plants utilize the HSFA1 transcription factors to rapidly induce wound-induced regeneration genes after injury. @keikosugimoto.bsky.social @deveylderlab.bsky.social @wigge.bsky.social
This is so backward 1. Science is more than just commercialisable widgetry 2. Making progress on our biggest problems (climate change, infectious diseases, misinfo to name a few) will need more collaboration between STEM and hum/social sci not less.
At the last team building, I tried to axe down the group size, but I couldn't (they're all sooo good!)!
