So true. I was smack dab in the middle of the industry when this was all going on, I held onto my CD software and continued to use it as long as I could. Eventually I was forced to move away because there was no more support for an ancient platform.
They removed CD/DVD drives from PCs.

-Pushed us into streaming subscriptions.
-Made always-online normal.
-Made unlimited internet necessary.
-Slowly raised the price of everything.
Ownership quietly became renting.
