Players will not tolerate AI usage. They especially will not tolerate it being hidden. It destroys trust twice over.

The one thing I hope people realise is that Maki himself understands that his parents are too far gone. It was just something he had to say before it broke him completely.
Which is why my only misgiving is that the show didn't give any room for his tantrum to breath.
Like it really feels like there is no room in the show itself to process such a heavy scene. It was just over and back to the rom-com moments in a flash.
I wonder if the LN/Manga expands on this more? I hope it does.
Botan Kamiina episode 9 gave what I think is one of the most poetically beautiful confession scenes I've watched in an anime. The music and the art drove most of what didn't need much words to deliver.
