Bad news: I had take out a 6k loan and pay a lump sum to cover the remainder.
Thank you all for any contributions. I'll leave the GFM open for now. I couldn't get any help from lawyers other than advising bankruptcy.
Everything will be so very tight for a while.

I just got hit with a wage garnishment for FEMA assistance from Hurricane Katrina. I fought this years ago, but now it's back with no prior notice.
