Sentinel-2 imagery from 11 June showing the damage from wind-driven hail in the Brescia and Vicenza-Treviso provinces of the day before. Always impressed to see these
Rome tornado: it ran for over 6 km in the NNE neighborhoods of the city, causing damage that can be rated up to IF1 to trees, while also causing relatively minor damage to buildings. Max width and intensity were likely achieved by tracking over more open areas. Two minor injuries were also counted
Hello, I'm not dead! Between the first exam of the Summer session and Wednesday's storms, I've been quite busy. Anyway, here are the >250 reports we collected at PRETEMP, many of them present in the ESWD as well. Hailstones got up to 8 cm and winds exceeded 110 km/h. 4 injuries were also counted
Today the only confirmed tornadoes came in the form of landfalling waterspouts around Genoa. Here's the second of the two as it impacted some boats
The second tornado struck the town of Bussolengo. We were uncertain at first, but surveys and videos became more and more convincing, as well as large heavy materasses lofted for 150 meters and umbrellas apparently found 2 km away from origin. Rated IF1.5
This is the main part of Rome's tornado history, with the most recent one occurring in February 2013, so it's not the city's first rodeo, with also stronger tornadoes and ones with many more injuries and some deaths as well
Another level of confidence for this tornado was added by the Weather Underground ISONA6 station, which took a more or less direct hit measuring a 51.3 km/h wind gust concurrent with a 2.03 hPa pressure drop, indicative of the passage of a twister
We also confirmed two tornadoes. The first occurred less than a kilometer away from another one that took place last 11 May and left a brief path of damage especially to trees. A small vortex was documented in a Tiktok video, and radar imagery and damage suggested a tornado event, rated IF1

Bild: Meteo Meldungen, MeteoSwiss App
