On the basis of this, if the assisted dying bill does return, it won't be until after the summer recess - most likely September, (possibly October) or November.
Andrew George (4th in ballot) will reportedly not bring back the assisted dying bill.
He has been a vocal supporter of the bill and has called for the Parliament Acts to be used to pass it.
Unclear if this means the MP 2nd in the ballot (Lauren Edwards) has decided take it. We will soon see.
If you're not sure either, let our fab @qmulsse.bsky.social colleague @mbarnfield.bsky.social explain in one of his excellent youtube shorts.

CB's (excellent) quote makes the Times diary, almost 120 years after his death.
He'd appreciate the irony: the Times was very bitchy about him; it once described him as a 'warming-pan', from which neither light nor heat can be expected. "Nevertheless, a 'warming-pan' has its uses".

Discussed ongoing research with @mbarnfield.bsky.social and @philipjcowley.bsky.social on the BBC’s Moral Maze yesterday evening - about what the ‘short term’ and the ‘long term’ mean in politics and policymaking.
