There’s a lot happening in this book that it loses track of. It gets some of it back for the finale but it never quite reaches the highs of the beginning of the series. One thing that is consistently 10/10, the art & colors from Grampá & Lopes. This creates a distinct & entertaining vibe & setting.
Bruce & Jim’s arcs are fine. Gordon’s was pretty standard, then got weird in #3, but kinda got back on track in this. Bruce getting a taste for murder in this series and processing that throughout was an interesting approach to why he develops a no-kill rule. The Rats are also cute if a little corny
Bengal is one of my favorite artists and was a main selling point for me, so I just ADORE their work here. It fits in nicely with the manga-esque style of Nick Draggota’s Abs Batman while also feeling more pristine & complex to match Selina’s wealth, unique gadgets, and toys, speaking of which…

Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #4 by Rafael Grampá
This was fine but man, the first half of this series just had a tighter pacing & clearer ideas. The occult plot washes right over me, and Crytoon became less important as the series went on; though I did enjoy Lil Joker way more than I thought I would.
I love how this sets up Selina’s arc. Excess is a central motif for the Absolute line and I love how this interprets that as an unhealthy coping mechanism for Selina. Where “excess” is a violent reaction from Batman, it’s a sad & lonely distraction from life for Catwoman. I loved so much about this!
Absolute Catwoman #1 by Che Grayson & Bengal
As a spinoff from Abs Batman, this is as delightfully & creatively absurd and over the top as it should be! It very quickly establishes Selina’s current situation & new capabilities, taking full advantage of the early momentum the character already has.
Just remembered this car is in Crossworlds. I can’t wait to drive around as Rei in a krabby patty
