We worked with the House and the Governor to come up with multiple compromises. We answered her questions and she continued to move the goal post every time. Any notion that she didn’t know what our proposal was is just complete bullshit.

Live reaction from Gov. Spanberger right now: "I think importantly, it was on budget Sunday that the Senate first put out any notion of wanting to make changes to the sales and use tax. It has now been months since the Senate did that, and since that initial discussion, certainly members of my administration, certainly I'll let the House of Delegates speak for themselves, but I think its fairly appropriate and correct to say that members of the General Assembly, across the board, as well as members of my administration, have tried to get answers from the Senate Finance Committee, more specifically the Senate Finance Chair, about what it was specifically that the Senate wanted to propose in meeting after meeting, in discussion after discussion. Never once was any proposal put forward. So I think it marks important progress that there is now some level of definition as to what it is that the Senate actually wants to do. I would note that it is June 12 and we are rushing towards the end of the month, which is a serious, serious deadline. Importantly, there is no budget language associated with that tweet, and when there is, I'll certainly do a more thorough review of it, but we cannot govern just by tweets. We need a full budget because the people of the Commonwealth are depending on us."
