Straight people believe that being gay is a sickness that can only be caught, or caused by trauma. I knew I was gay before I was groomed and assaulted by a sick man. Sexual assault complicated my coming-of-age and my sexuality, it did not determine it.
I’m okay. And I love being gay. I do.
