This is what happens when engineers and planners who seemingly don’t know what a bike looks like are tasked with delivering cycling infrastructure: a tick-box exercise of disconnected, poor quality cycle paths that create the illusion of progress while never inconveniencing drivers.
Rush hour, Amsterdam-style.
It seems inconceivable that only a decade ago, this was just species-poor grass. Now it's a wild mass of trees, flowers, flying insects and birdsong. That's the transformative power of rewilding.
Never mind the sheer stupidity of this design for a second. Imagine if something similar were forced on drivers. The outrage would be immediate!
