I care about democracy, social justice and climate change not necessarily in that order. Also family, farming and food especially cooking and eating the latter. Chair Make Votes Matter #makevotesmatter

🎙️Our CEO Emma Harrison was on the Shelagh Fogarty show on LBC, discussing some of the results we've seen today: "If Labour were really bold, they'd think about democratic renewal and say, let's talk about changing our voting system."

🚨 SIGN THE LETTER - PASS IT ON It's never been more clear: First Past the Post isn't working. The local election results are a mess. The 2029 general election could be much, much worse. It's time to end this chaos. Add your name 👇👇👇
Absolute chaos in Milton Keynes. The Lib Dems won the most seats - despite coming FOURTH in vote share. Do we need any more evidence that First Past the Post isn't working?
In Havering, Reform won 71% of the seats on 36% vote share. In Ealing, Labour won 66% of the seats on 30% of votes. In Westminster, the Tories won 59% of the seats on 35% of the vote. In Sutton, 44% of the vote gave the Lib Dems 93% of the seats. Under FPTP, whoever wins, the voters lose.
A please @labouruk.bsky.social, stop saying that it's up to us to stop Reform. YOU could stop a Reform government in 2029, by introducing the proportional representation so many in the country have been clamouring for. The only way Farage can win is through our crazy first-past-the-post system.

Unless we change the voting system, we will see this at the next general election as well. With votes split across five or more parties, power can be won on as little as 25% of the vote. This needs to be a wake-up call.
