The discovery that haddock are utilizing the foundations of wind turbines demonstrates how much researchers are still learning about the potential benefits of installing wind structures in the ocean floor:
Frontiers | Fine-scale proximity to offshore wind turbine foundations increases biomass of demersal fish species www.frontiersin.org/journals/mar... | A common finding. Offshore wind infrastructure is habitat for fish, just like a shipwreck or artificial reef. 🧪🦑🌎🐠

Our new paper on the fine-scale effects of wind farm turbine foundations on demersal fish is out now in Frontiers in Marine Science bit.ly/47aJYMl. Part of the OWEC #PrePAREDproject funded by @thecrownestate.bsky.social. @exeter.ac.uk @exetermarine.bsky.social @drmjwitt.bsky.social

The rigs-to-reefs phenomenon is starting to play out at some UK wind turbines. But, unlike oil rigs, these massive structures are *reducing* emissions caused by burning fossil fuels, which is warming the ocean and devastating marine life worldwide. My latest 👇 www.canarymedia.com/articles/off...

The French would like to thank the UK for funding to them. 2020 - 2024: EDF owned by the French state made £91bn operating profit in the UK, subsidises French households/industry. UK govts oppose public ownership but happy to let foreign govts own UK infrastructure, export billions of profits.
