#10yearsagotoday, Queens-born Omar Mateen visited Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando and opened fire. 49 patrons were killed; another 53 were injured. Mateen was killed at the scene by the police after a standoff. The shooting was the deadliest act of violence against LGBTQ people.
