Knicks head coach Mike Brown said that he never thought he'd see such a huge free-throw discrepancy as last night in the Finals, but there was one: In Game 3 of the 1983 Finals, the 76ers shot 32 free throws to the Lakers 5. Here's what I wrote about it in "Moses and the Doctor":
When asked if there were any bright spots from the Lakers loss in Game Three, head coach Pat Riley quipped: "Well, I guess we won't spend much time practicing our foul shots."
On the one hand, I'm actually sympathetic to the president here. He's a lifelong New Yorker and a Knicks fan. It's his team. On the other, this just sucks for everyone else, and a more, let's say, conscientious president would realize that and do the right thing.
