I’d never really heard of him until I stumbled into an exhibit in 2022 pairing his work with Matisse. While many artists seem to repeat themselves in a narrow corner, I liked how both of them explored restlessly.
The painting shown at the bottom here really stopped me in my tracks — it’s luminous.
