Father's Day is a special case, I think, in that I was genuinely unaware of its existence in this country until, fairly recently, I learned about it *actually through* this kind of bludgeoning platitude. Which is nice, I suppose, since it does actually coincide with my dad's anniversary
a little yearly treat, on or around the date of my dad's death, of people and organisations going "it's possible you don't have a father! this happens sometimes! and we want you to know we won't judge!" and, as far as I can tell, absolutely nothing else going on
