Totally agree with this. For all his many faults, I think Streeting would be much more aggressive, unequivocal and effective in taking on the far-right than Burnham. He would not legitimate concerns it. I fear Burnham will.
Burnham saying that we should look at banning the kirpan was further confirmation that the response to Starmer's failure will be 'what if we had the same soft left policies, the same equivocation, but with a more charismatic leader who actually likes and does politics'
Apart from anything else, Ukraine's sacrifice has given politicians in the rest of Europe the ability to paint these people as traitors. Because they are, but it raises the salience hugely. Use it!
