there is something appealing about getting RPG combat without the abstraction
not that the abstraction is a bad thing, its just cool that they actually made it work

woolie describing what he likes about FF7R also made it click for me why it really hits a sweet spot for me
it feels like the classic FF formula that's just been iterated to a point where it has real time action combat, but without sacrificing any of the FF-isms
to me 7R feels pretty directly in the lineage of classic FFs, just with action combat
there's a direct line from ATB to FFXII, to this
meant to say FFXIII but XII is included too even if its kinda its own divergent path
