i think classroom clickers is a bit like CPAP: very effective, but then it doesn’t get used as much as the experts want, and rather than focus on ergonomics and access, they end up preaching
anyway i think one could sell a classroom set of simple four button clickers with 5 year battery life, in a box with a simple LED alarm clock style display showing the tally and no PC software or accounts or subscriptions or cell phones… for $1000? maybe more for a large set?
admittedly resmed does focus a lot on ergonomics. but the sleep medicine industry sucks and can’t get its act together. with clickers it’s the other way. professors are great but subscriptions and setup and $75 a pop paid by students to the rtextbook mafia is nope.
I think part of it is that folks--especially US atheists--are primed to see christianity through the lens of american evangelicalism. And I get why, but also: he is not an american evangelical, and the way he expresses his religiosity is for the most part directly opposed, not aligned, to that.
i’ve been trying to run the numbers. the price of components goes down with volume but stabilizes at a few thousand; the price of custom mass production processes like injection molding and button overlays keeps declining with volume for a long time
everything about the clicker market is just foot shooting. they focused entirely on rent seeking rather than volume and then got upended by cell phone apps even though that’s really not ideal what with setup hassle and using a general purpose distraction device
