i myself am a fan of retro-futurism so really my solution would be to just go back a lil and take notes from older works and remix them a lil bit. i also realize that the reason the techwear thing was popular for sometime was cause it was informed by actual fashion trends at the time
i think in the realm of sci-fi/future character design for anime adjacent projects we have hit an oversaturation of techwear and oversized jackets/hoodies worn to expose shoulders
