Mostly biking, transit & urbanism. YIMBY. BikeSD board member. Golden Hill hype girl. 📍San Diego | she/her/ella
Monica de la Cruz
not to rehash carceral urbanist discourse but I do think all transit riders deserve an on-time, comfortable bus home late at night. We waited for a man to go row by row through the whole bus trying to sell clearly stolen merchandise for his fare, only for him to later show off his Nazi "art"
A 10:05 cross-county bus has all of the region's transportation & housing dysfunction on display. Desperate people holding up each stop begging and arguing for free rides, nauseating odors through an hour-long trip, clearly fed-up service workers that just want to get home and have no other option
Ended up on a late night Rapid 235 bus from Escondido to downtown SD after I found out the Coaster's last Sunday train is 7:15 pm (!!!) and my only other option to get out of North County was an $18 Amtrak. The 235 will get you home, but damn it can be a rough journey
What a sweet father's day activity 🥹
Had the cutest interaction with a father & son at Santa Fe Depot. I overheard the dad say "look they all have dots" and I knew they were talking about trolley wraps, so we got talking about trains. The son's nonverbal but the dad tells me how excited they are to ride the Coaster for the first time
Just got an IG advertisement for 3 months free rent in a new build in downtown SD. Holy cow??
My husband is there for his dad but he's already talking about selling his ticket for tomorrow
It took them 2 hours to get food inside the race grounds 😂
I'm glad the race mania is mostly contained to Coronado so I can avoid it, but it just seems like a shitty fan experience for the race to be in an isolated town with a few ultra luxury hotels so basically everyone has to drive in from elsewhere
My in-laws are at the NASCAR race and apparently their drive from Golden Hill/downtown to Coronado was over an hour
