Question for the hive -- fair to call a PhD student studying cognitive neuroscience a "cognitive neuroscientist"?
I realize those in academia are quick to defer to their superiors or to avoid putting on false airs, but I think editors/readers prefer "cognitive neuroscientist" to "PhD student"

Aw, it wants to give you a hug.
Dang it, I even opened a separate tab and searched "Meghan Bartels bluesky" to try to tag you, but somehow didn't find you. Sorry, @meghanbartels.bsky.social!
When in doubt, CHECK THE COMMENTS!
Even though this stuff is proliferating faster than we’d like, gunking up our feeds and sucking joy out of real, actual wonders, tonsss of people are doing the good work of commenting and calling it out as AI.
I dunno. But it can’t hurt.
At a book talk on Monday for GRIZZLED, an audience member asked what to do w/AI animal videos. Similar to @sabs.bsky.social, I said it was getting increasingly tough to tell what was real, even for us who make a living by brokering wonder for the public. But I did come up w/1 bit of advice…
That may seem like rudimentary advice to a lot of us who live on the interwebs, but I promise this simple guidance will help many people in your life who are more casual users of social media/internet.
Maybe… if enough people catch on… the metrics go down, and we get our wonder machines back.

🚨ANCIENT WHALE GRAVEYARD🚨
There's a 750-mile stretch of the Indian Ocean that has been home to more than 450 whale skeletons, some of which are recent, and some of which are fossils going back 5 million years!
