this is tangential to Uckema's point somewhat, but: tbh i tend to think that there is no such thing as an illegitimate word so long as it carries information and meets the requirements of being a word and the most important thing is what one is communicating by using it both intended and unintended

Me with my wife (there is also the inverse skit where the historian points out the word "nigardly" is a legitimate word (the black guy pops up and says the word) but most people use it as an abuse term
