I wrote a summary piece on all the reasons why an LNG import terminal is a bad idea (unpaywalled). It's a cost to the economy, raises power prices, and increases emissions.
Comment: Kiwis will be forgiven for thinking they're no longer on the hook to pay for LNG, but that would be a premature assumption, writes Marc Daalder.

That’ll be the master race at it again.
Coughlan on transport funding has many facts right, but as usual is leaning heavily on the scales. The idea that Lab’s $63m PT uptake incentivisation plan is the straw that breaks the multi-billion $$$ over-scoped mega highway-shaped camel’s back is absurd. In fact is part of the answer. 1/2
Another day, another minister threatening the state broadcaster to not report news he doesn't like: Shane Jones on RNZ warning against it reporting Greenpeace views on bottom trawling, instead of exclusively supporting his own views on the fishing industry (that donates generously to his party)
How bonkers is it that our health minister, former transport minister, Simeon Browne, is a fossil fuels super fan #nzpol. Media cheerlead his nonsense when they don’t price road deaths and pollution related illness into the equations re cars, EVs, speed limits, PT, RONS etc
Want to share some thoughts. I know the rioting in Belfast has had lots of coverage. But I still think more needs to be said. This was so incredibly shocking. *people burned out of their homes because of the colour of their skin*.
