Drinking whisky as the moon rises at Siccar Point. A special place and a story well told. Good night!
Hey folks! Was just made aware of this website that's "selling" Parks passes and USGS maps (which are always free in digital form).
Just a reminder that legit government websites ALWAYS end in .gov, and you can only purchase NPS passes from the official NPS and USGS sites.
New bumper sticker…peak #nerd. #geology 🧪⚒️
Hard to top ION country for geology & scenery.. ⚒️
Some of us - actual Geology programs- are trying to do this here in the USA.. just need funding - to support the teaching & learning, infrastructure, and of course ideally student support..

The generational collapse in literacy is measurable, persistent, and likely to get worse.
This map shows where the 48 teams partaking in the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be based. 🇲🇽🇺🇸🇨🇦
Pretty sure that Argentina, England, and the Netherlands have an unfair advantage by being based in Kansas: heaps fewer distractions than elsewhere 😉
🚨Funding for 2yr postdoc w/ me & @geocron.bsky.social on landslide-tsunami-jökulhlaup project, but (this is the ridiculous part) I need to select someone NOW or I lose the $. Recently returned from Oregon’s amazing Owyhee Canyonlands. This remote area of Oregon has some the most amazing scenery in the US. This new image is of Chalk Basin, on the Owyhee. Alternating layers of marine sediment and rhyolite/Basalt account for the stunning stratification.
"Fellowships are authorized to support (1) U.S. citizens attending foreign mining institutions in order to build the capacity of the U.S. mining workforce"
You could just fund geology and the USGS in particular.
