What happens when politicians pivot during a crisis?
I examine Trump’s July 2020 mask pivot. It increased Republican mask use, closing 40% of the partisan gap.
But paradoxically, beliefs about masks' efficacy didn’t change.

When I was thinking of doing a PhD, a professor I applied for an RA with gave a very frank overview of the job market. It is really good practice to do that.
People should have that information before they consider a PhD.
