She asked when it was banned in schools and I said just have been mid-80s cause I remember the strap in primary school. Looked it up. 1987 is state schools and 1999 in private schools. Daughter: so if you were rich, your kids got abused longer.
Also - did you know that in England, you aren’t allowed to smack a child if you work in a school or nursery, but parents can give permission for informal carers such as childminders or nannies to smack their child. WTF.
My daughter trained in early childhood education here in Germany and she was absolutely flabbergasted to hear that it’s still legal to smack your child in England. When I said it was allowed if it was seen to be a ‘reasonable punishment’, she was speechless.

Der brutale Messerangriff in #Belfast ist übrigens auch nicht der „Auslöser“ des Pogroms. Wer das behauptet, verbreitet Propaganda. Was haben Unschuldige damit zu tun? Der Zusammenhang lässt sich ohne falsche Kausalität beschreiben. Rassismus ist der Auslöser.
