Kroot getting their own army rule and their own faction would free both halves of the army from each other, allowing them the full attention of the rules design team instead of having it awkwardly split between the two with every release, making both feel underwhelming.
Look, I know I ain't the best painter out there, but at the FLGS recently. I saw a Tau/Drukhari game and my eyes immediately zoomed in on and judged the patchy paint of several, obviously still in-progeess models.

Kroot need their own codex, letting them be an independent faction entirely from the T'au.
I'm a T'au player. I love my Kroot. There should certainly be rules to soup them together. But as it is right now, there's no synergy between the two halves of the army.
