It would have been so easy for Yacht Club Games to add a dodge roll to Minas combat, but they didn't. In turn they created a system that values positioning over reflexes, and I admire that. I love Soulslikes as much as the next person, but (1/2)

Loving Mina so far, but does anybody know when the meta changed to the player getting knocked back themselves when a meele attack hits? A lot of indies are doing it this way nowadays, and it feels so bad to me. To me the knockback communicates that my attack has been blocked in some way 🤷♂️
indies are kinda stuck with a very narrow definition of what made the original mechanics great. If indies don't experiment nobody will!
Years ago I decided to release all of Arclands assets under a CCBY4.0 licence. Even though the game hasn't released yet and I only uploaded a tiny fraction of the assets, I keep seeing art inspired by it. That's so cool!
HOWEVER releasing commercial asset packs inspired by my art is corny as hell
theres something so satisfying and neat about isometric interiors

Oof woke up and the first thing I saw on the youtube front page was an indie game trailer with completely ai generated pixel art. Expecting to see this more and more, sadly :(
