Back in the days of Internet forums, I remember there were posters that were known to be teenagers. (Frequently with parental permission to be there). Not only do I think this did them no harm, I think them communicating with adults as peers and sharing opinions was good for them.
And, it turns out, they glow in the dark. Which surprised me last night.
