To figure out who owns a derelict property, simply squat in it for a few days and see who runs crying to the press
If we want everyone to have a home in Ireland we need to know where the homes are, if they are used or empty, what state they are in, & what needs to be done to get them back into use Everyone should have a home Wasted homes don't help anyone except hoarders Me & Jude look at solving the data side 👇
Wow the fencing is finally gone, we get our footpath back & they so kindly left us the rubble as modern ruin art installation This has been lethal since this end of row heritage building left its mark AGAIN last August on Corks historic North Main St, this is where it all started #DerelictIreland
Why is city council spending public money to block off access to all our River Lee Lots of people like to chill on these historic steps onto the river, there was a ferry from here back in the day, from Ferry Lane to Coal Quay Instead of increasing public luxury they take it away 😢 #restplaywork
I particularly hate footpaths being closed due to unsafe derelict buildings. So pedestrians have to pay the price? How is that fair?
These 3 homes in Rathmore have just been added to Derelict Sites Register Kerry Council waited a few years after roof started to fall onto street & they had to block off footpath underneath before finally acting The law has been in place since 1990 Welcome to #DerelictIreland
Read our latest article looking at how we don't know much about the homes in Ireland This is wasting a lot of limited resources and making it harder to manage the existing housing stock. #Speirgorm #HousingCrisis
Ireland, we've a housing data problem "All they (Revenue) need to do is expand on these questions to register who lives in every home, with private rentals verified through RTB registration" me & @judesherry.bsky.social provide way forward in this piece #HousingCrisis #DerelictIreland #speirghorm
Ireland's housing crisis: If you can't fix what you don't measure, and Ireland has no clear record of its properties and how they're used, is it any wonder we're in this predicament? jrnl.ie/7063798

Unlike many of our European counterparts, we have no reliable system for tracking who lives in what properties in Ireland, and it’s costing us valuable time.

Data matters "Because without changing how we manage housing data in Ireland, we will continue to run around in circles, getting nowhere closer to filling all the homes in the country and, crucially, ensuring everyone has a home" @judesherry.bsky.social & my latest in The Journal #DerelictIreland
