Extremely ancient Sketchup model still kinda fits with the missile cruiser? However it does have the common scifi issue where a smaller ship is basically just the same as a bigger one but differently scaled. It's kinda okay for that one because its job is to bring more missiles in a smaller package.
Inside it is a normal, smaller Orion
Realized that if you hot rodded/Y-Winged this the front would not be wholly unlike the Taiidan missile destroyer in Homeworld.
Jank frigate sketching
Kinda like this. Would probably be a lot more struts.
With the frigate I'm really trying to avoid that, and I'm thinking the subtler design commonalities with the cruiser as well as eventually similar detailing will be enough to tie them together despite a totally different overall silhouette.
There are basically three stages of life to this ship:
1. An original, much sleeker, less janky and more symmetric configuration.
2. The one I'm primarily pursuing, which is extensively retrofitted and overgrown.
3. The hot rod, which tries to turn the the second one into something leaner again.
Gotta sketch some internal volumes to figure out the shapes
A bit of earlier tests of the background and compositing setup in yesterday's scene starring @elukka.bsky.social's missile cruiser and an An Nath class.
Obviously these ships don't actually coexist but the An Nath is probably representative of many ships that exist in Elukka's setting as well.
And a fun little dither experiment with the cruiser.
