Tuition fees virtually destroyed the Lib Dems, and that was when it affected students who mostly don't vote. Many of those people are likely in their 30s now & probably *do* vote & I suspect largely voted Labour previously.

Ministers have rejected accusations that recent changes to student loans were unfair, arguing they are so heavily subsidised that the government has the right to alter their terms.
