Part of the great exodus - bear with me as I get everything set up!

in the end, the thing that sells it to me so hard is that there's a tone of utter despair and calamity throughout - and yet, a simultaneous thread of hope, of resistance against the apocalypse and the inevitable, and it's just so compelling. It's not the first to do it, but its the best.
the sense that everything is on a knife's edge, and already irreparable damage has been done.
to that end - the lead up into shadowbringers is the best there is. the pressure of the scions dropping one by one to an unseen, unknown threat? oh man, i was hooked instantly.
then you've got the tone and vibe - the moment you step in, you're in a world frozen IN the apocalypse - you can see in the sky above you, the heavens burning with unnatural light. the world is in the active process of being destroyed - its the same feeling as the world of calamity in ff6 -
so to actually finally answer the qotd - no. Ardbert looks the same as in main canon, because as just a fragment of Ikaros the rest of reality is more assertive of his form than the shard of his original self's soul.
(this also lets me have other ocs as shards of Azem that can be whatever teehee)
basically hijacking this qotd (lol) to explain my canon - as the shards of an ancient rejoin, the closer the person looks to their ancient self.
Isu, as (I think 7 at start of ShB, more after) times rejoined looks VERY similar to Ikaros, which is part of the reason why Emet is so (cont)
there's the music (ahm araeng's day theme is chef's kiss, and amaurot tearjerks every time) and the characters introduced/reintroduced are incredible - emet and the exarch, and even the way they expand on the scions. I could go on for literal paragraphs about each little thing dude, its so good
hopeful that this is enough, that he can kind of stop, that this being over half of Ikaros' soul is enough to really be them. Worst part for Isu is that, yeah, it kind of is, hence his dreams, identity worries, faded memories, consistent dejavu, nostalgia for things that he remembers but never lived
heeeere we go:
first, and unsurprisingly foremost, sin eaters and the light. I'm a sucker for them, as you may be able to tell. The idea of light, of white and gold, so classically tied with purity and heaven and good being rent into corruption and impurity tickles me in a way I just can't describe
This pride, let's give bi people in hetero passing relationships a break and focus on the real enemy: people who think kefka is more attractive without the clown makeup
