Prepping to teach Invaders from Mars (William Menzies, 1953) this week in SF film. I was the same age as the protagonist when I first saw the movie and it had a profound effect on me. I'd snuck downstairs at my grandparents' house to watch TV and the whole experience felt like a fever dream.
